Hi, I’m Hannah, and welcome to my blog, hann iyagi. The name of my blog actually comes from the Korean word 이야기 (pronounced ‘iyagi’), meaning ‘story’, while ‘hann’ refers both to my first name and to the Korean word 한, meaning ‘one’. Thus, the name literally translates to ‘one story’, which, brimming with allegory, reflects the content of this platform. Here, you’ll find my story as a half-Korean, half-Danish girl who’s grown up a little bit everywhere; my thoughts, ideas and experiences, as well as songs, books and other things I’m currently loving.
I’ve always had a passion for documenting, and aside from fleeting childhood flings with diaries, I’ve kept a journal regularly since the age of 14. Creating a space where I can write and reflect freely has therefore been something I’ve been meaning to do for a while. In addition to my desire to share some scraps of prose with the world, one of the reasons I’ve started this blog is to connect with others who have similar interests or experiences to me. As I entered my teenage years my interest in my heritage (especially my Korean side) grew enormously: you’ll find me raving about Korean food, music and film, and can expect a couple of recommendations!
Aside from being just a personal platform, I’d love for this space to become a means of building a community of people around the world who are curious about different and mixed cultures. If you’re interested in any of the above or want to find out more, please watch this space and leave a comment!
You can read more about me here, in my first blog entry.
